• John August will be writing an adaptation of PREACHER with Sam Mendes set to direct.  I wouldn’t get your hopes up, hardly the first time PREACHER has been fruitlessly in the news.  Then again, it is Mendes tradition to follow up a critical success with a more mass appeal film…
• Now David Arquette is saying SCREAM 4 calls are being made.  Of course he says this to a TMZ papparrazi on inaguration day, so take it how you will.
• Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford join the cast of Whedon/Goddard’s CABIN IN THE WOODS.

• IFC picked up Daniel Myric’s aliens in Afghanistan flick THE OBJECTIVE and will be giving the neat, but not mind blowing flick a run OnDemand starting February 4th.
• ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE producer Chad Feehan is going to try his hand at directing a flick called KINDLING.  Should probably finish his producer duties on MANDY LANE first and get out in the Sates already.  Jesus.

• New rash of MPAA ratings out: ALONE IN THE DARK 2 is PG-13, as is Richard Kelly’s THE BOX, while both DYING BREED and RESIDENT EVIL: DEGENERATION (the CGI movie) get an R.
• Remember TYRANNOSAURUS REX, Rob Zombie’s next movie news has been trickling on for months now?  Has nothing even close to resembling a script; “All I have is one sentence.“
• I thought I had only just read about it being adapted, but already BD has some pics from Clive Barker’s DREAD.
• After Dark released the majority of their posters for January’s Horrorfest, but all I care about is the sweet job on Lena Headey’s face for THE BROKEN.
• HBO axed it, so now Sam Mendes is going to bring PREACHER to the big screen.
• A good sign for a possible release: Warner Brothers has begun test screening TRICK ‘R TREAT.  I don’t know why they’re even bothering, didn’t they get the fellating?
