Thursday, right before leaving town for the weekend, I got a care package of promotional materials from Jim Kunz, director of LAN PARTY MASSACRE.  We had exchanged a few emails after my pity post and he said he would mail off a poster to hang above my desk for motivational purposes.  And he did just that.  Times two.  So, the first free stuff leftovers up on the block; A full size LAN PARTY MASSACRE poster, LPM stickers, and some admittedly sweet LPM door knob hanger thingymabobs…not sure what you call ‘em.  All resemble, in way or another, the principle artwork found at the official site.

Monday I returned home to a care package from the PR folks behind LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE.  So, I’ve got one copy of the DVD to give away and three copies of the flick’s original soundtrack.  I haven’t had time yet to watch or listen to either, so I’m not vouching for quality here, but I can vouch that all of the above items are completely fucking free, so take ‘em.

Since I did not pay for any of these, unlike past giveaways, there’ll be no contest per say.  Just email me [peter @ horrorsnotdead.com] by Thursday noon EST with a subject line of either ‘LPM’ or ‘LB2′ (or both if you fancy) with a body containing name and mailing address.  Thursday night I’ll chose victors by random.  Friday I’ll mail them out (as well as movies to past folks who are still waiting on copies from me).

That about sums my reaction to a chain of events earlier today that reminded me how terrible I am.  First, the preface, in case one or two of you who have yet to listen to me cry into my own glass of Jack:  When I was 18 I wrote a horror movie.  When I was 19, I tried to make that movie.  My woeful lack of preparation was rivaled only by my lack of talent.  There is no disputing the validity of its failure, only the magnitude of its retardation is up for grabs.

All the same, I still hold that it was a story worth telling, worth filming.  It has become my white whale.  I think about it every single day.  I’ve rewritten it 3 times in my head.  This last take, the one so close to being put back on paper, works, though.  I couldn’t be more excited about wanting to make the movie, but I just keep putting it off, keep finding things to do in my spare time other than rewrite THE LAN.  Which is inexcusably stupid considering one of the actors originally involved wants to throw at least 30 grand at a remake next year.

But I’ve never felt more confident that one day this site will host a trailer for a final, legit production of THE LAN than I have as I type this.  And the reason?  I found out someone else is working on a LAN party horror movie.
