‘The Innkeepers’ Giveaway: Win DVDs, Posters or a Not-For-Sale Limited Edition

Posted by Peter Hall - April 19th 2012 @ 10:48 pm

Regular readers of this site should know that I think The Innkeepers, the new film from the brilliant Ti West, is the best horror film of 2011. Non-regular readers, well, now you know that I think The Innkeepers is the best horror film of 2011. Even if you don’t agree with me, hopefully you’ve seen it by now, and hopefully you paid for it because supporting indie horror means a great deal to this website. If, for whatever reasons, you still haven’t seen it, though, today is your lucky day, because on Tuesday, April 24th the film hits DVD and Blu-ray and we’re giving away several copies.

The great folks at Dark Sky Films have graciously provided us with a bounty of copies to giveaway, and while the bulk of them are your average DVD version of the film, we’ve also been privy to two limited editions of the movie to gift to readers. And when I say limited edition, I really do mean limited edition– these Gatefold Blu-ray versions of the film are designed to look like record LP covers, and they will never, ever be for sale. So, the only way to get a copy of it is to get one directly from Dark Sky, and we are proud to be your gateway to the opportunity. As if that weren’t cool enough on its own, they’re signed by West to boot.

I’ve seen them up close, so trust me when I say, you want this:

So, how do you win one? Don’t worry, I’m not going to make you write an essay about how much you love West’s films (though I will kindly ask you read my massive interview with the no-bullshit man). All you need to do is reply with a comment here using a valid email address (don’t worry, it’ll be hidden on the site) saying you want to the best horror movie of 2011.

We’ve got 5 DVDs, 1 poster, and 2 Gatefold Blu-rays to giveaway, so thanks to Dark Sky’s generosity, your odds of getting something are pretty solid. Good luck!

Note: If your comment doesn’t appear on the site right away, that’s just spam protection. We’ll still see it.

I would have no problem writing an essay on Ti West’s films, as I happen to think he’s absolutely brilliant!

But for now, I won’t bore anyone and just leave this required comment.

I’d certainly like to see it. Cabin Fever 2 was shot here, and I’d like to see a film of his that contains his vision rather than troublesome producers.

I’d really like a copy of the film, but as I’ve had the blu-ray on preorder for months, really only that gatefold will do. (I paid for the film three times – in its LA showing at Cinefamily, onDemand to share it with some skeptical friends, and the aforementioned blu-ray). Also, uh, please and thanks.

  57. April 20th, 2012 | 12:48 pm | #57

The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers are both great films because they are solid stories executed fantastically, not because they have had a gimmick forced in like in so many other modern genre films.

I think Ti West is a great director and he will do well whatever genre he persues next. I definitely see a viewing of his next film in my future.

The Innkeepers was a solid, creepy haunted house (or in this case) horror flick. After absolutely loving Mr. West’s The House of the Devil back in ’09, I had pretty big expectations for this one, and they were met. It’s an absolutely spooky good time; one of those old fashioned modern horror movies that mixes genuine jump scares with visual atmosphere (West is quite the director!) and some laughs to balance out the general tone. Superb pairing of Sara Paxton and Pat Healey. I love West’s signature slow burn suspense. And I felt like I was one of the few that really, really cherished his last feature. I think he’s one of the saviors of the horror genre.

I already own the VHS ‘House of the Devil’ clamshell, and it shares a small but important shelf with my old Anchor Bay tapes. That gatefold would probably fit right in with my old laserdiscs. I hope I get lucky!

I’ve liked every Ti West movie that I have seen. I saw the poster for this movie last year and was instantly interested in seeing it. I really love the concept behind gatefold release and would make it a permanent addition to my colection.

I would like to get the Gatefold Blu-Ray because it harkens back to a time where true cinephiles with the means would stock up on Laserdiscs and marvel at the artwork like they were LPs. Half the fun of collecting such discs was the cover art. Only Criterion goes the extra mile nowadays, but I’m glad Dark Sky hasn’t forgotten.

Thanks for letting me enter this contest. Have a nice day.
