Dude, your review is amazing. I read it the week the movie came out and it really got me curious. I saw the movie tonight and I think I agree with you. I think this movie will be revisited decades from now where other campy creature movies of our generation won't. Or I'm still just on an adrenaline rush from seeing the movie alone in an empty theater while being irrationally terrified by sharks...

I largely agree with your review. I'm a huge fan of Snakes on a Plane and I really want to see Cellular.

I would have to say that *Spoiler* the way the sharks jumped out of the water was really corny, but then again it did add an element of funny to it. I actually thought the first kill scene at the beginning was really well done, and the scene where Katherine Mcphee is eaten by Cookiecutter sharks was awesome. I'm not exactly sure why they didn't stick with scenes like that, and also had absolutely absurdly hilarious death scenes like where the kid is bitten off a tree or snatched off a jet ski. *End of spoilers*

I do have to say though, I abhor the movie Starship Troopers. The novel on which it is based is outstanding, but the film not only doesn't do it justice but creates a retarded story completely unrelated to the book. It is one of my least favorite films of all time.

I would have liked this better if it had been truly bad. Instead it was a limp mediocre film with jokes that miss more than they hit and not a single brain cell to be found. I don't agree that it is self-aware in any way. Ellis has made 1.5 good movies- FD2 was great, CELLULAR was almost good. FD4 is by far the worst in the series and SNAKES ON A PLANE... ugh. If this movie is so next-gen, I'd expect it to at least be fun. :-/

In my own review of this, I pondered if we could consider Ellis an auteur in the sense that he knows how to make good, ridiculous movies by committing to ridiculous concepts (Cellular, FD 2/4, Snakes on a Plane). Someone convince me I'm nuts.
