I haven’t read the novel, but that might add a little perspective on how the film fits (or doesn’t) into the modern vampire tales, considering that its source is classic and unrelated in terms of genre.

Actually, I wasn’t quite sure about this one. I loved JSA and Old Boy but a bit turned off with all the vampire stuff in books and movies these days. Very well written.
