The microwave bit is stupid, I’ll admit. Though I do like the idea of paralyzing someone because you didn’t have any rope. Of course, assuming he disables the fail safe that prevents operation with an open door, it would still not cause any immediate harm as the waves use all four walls to bounce towards the center. Remove a wall and the waves lose all focal power. Would take ages to do anything to him.

Re: the killers. I think the non-threatening demeanor was intentional. Craven’s had folk you would judge from the start, where as this outing looks to have normal appearing people doing crazy things, an idea I like.
