This movie was what I expected. Lots of fun and some good gore. I'm glad to see that Sam Raimi returned to horror, and I hope he continues down that path.

Oh definitely, deepfield. My wife loved it more than I did as well, which is something I can never complain about it. Despite how groaning the review comes off, I did enjoy the movie, I just wish Raimi had made it like he would have made it 20 years ago, not just write it that way.

I'll take this over another PLACEHOLDER remake. I really enjoyed this movie.. or maybe it was the fact it made my wife hide behind her purse for 1.5 hours.

I agree it does have studio made written all over it, but to be honest it didn't bother me the least bit. Where as most films definitely get ruined I was actually intrigued to say the least to see a Sam Raimi Evil Dead-like film, which would have more intense special effects and simply more money put into it. I mean as far as I'm concerned it doesn't get better than Evil Dead 1,2, and the much less distinct number 3, Army of Darkness, but this was a nice way to return. I welcome the eventual remake and just about anything Sam Raimi brings to the table in this genre.
