Last Week in Horror News: June 14th to the 21st.
Theatrical Trailers and Clips
- ZOMBIELAND – Naturally a US answer to SHAUN OF THE DEAD would feature a ton of hi-def slo-mo.
- THE STEPFATHER – From the considerate minds behind PROM NIGHT 2009.
- 2012 – Ahhh how I love you Roland Emmerich.
- THIRST – US Red Band trailer.
Studio News and Attachments
- 25/8 – Wes Craven was done filming his new slasher. Not anymore.
- SCREAM 4 – According to Kevin Williamson’s Twitter account, Neve Campbell does not want to do another SCREAM. Guess she’s too busy.
- BOO U – DreamWorks has several animated ghost flicks on its slate, the newest of which is about a haunter who has lost his touch and must go back to school in order to learn the ways of the spook.
- THE WARD – John Carpenter has cast F13 ’09′s Danielle Panabaker in his return to feature films.
- THE HAUNTING IN GEORGIA – Ti West will direct the unrelated sequel to Gold Circle Films’ money maker THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT.
Remakes
- TEEN WOLF – Warner Brothers is seeking someone to write a remake. I doubt Michael J. Fox will be doing a cameo.
- HALLOWEEN 2 – I never thought I’d admit it, but I really dig this H2 poster, though I’m not sure there is anything attached to that tuft of hair homeless Mike is clutching.
- BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN – I guess with Guillermo del Toro poised to make FRANKENSTEIN relevant to mass audiences once again it only makes sense that Universal would put out feelers for a BRIDE cash-in.
Indie, Foreign and Random News
- BLACK SWAN – Darren Aronofsky’s next film will not be a ROBOCOP remake, instead the auteur is opting for a haunted ballerina story staring Natalie Portman.
- THE COLLECTOR – Marcus Dunstan’s directorial debut has a wide release set for July 31st according to the official site. I’ve heard good things about it, but seems stupid for Freestyle Releasing to go up against THIRST…
- JENNIFER’S BODY – Megan Fox reveals a bit more of the plot to Diablo Cody’s horror flick: Fox’ demonic possession takes place after “She gets improperly sacrificed by Adam Brody’s band, who have sold their souls to Satan in order to get a record deal”.
- NIGHT OF THE CREEPS – Just a Flickr pool of pics from the Dekker and Cast reunion screening, though sadly I’m in none of them.
- THE SHRINE – JACK BROOKS 2 is benched while director Jon Knautz directs THE SHRINE (originally titled THE CULT).
Non-theatrical Trailers and Clips
- CHAW – Full Trailer.
- DETOUR – Norway is starting to get big on slashers.
