Studio News and Attachments
- Dan Simmons’ Sci-Fi series HYPERION coming to the big screen! At the hands of DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL remaker Scott Derrickson… Sadface.
- Gold Circle films is setting into motion a sequel to THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT, starring Virginia Madsen and Beaver from “VERONICA MARS”, which itself is still a few months away from release. Or maybe they’re just announcing a “sequel” to remind people the first, unseen title still exists.
- Relativity Media purchased Rogue Pictures and thus all of their properties, which includes the comic TAG. Simon Crane will be directing the film about a pagan curse spread to strangers by touch.
- In the same purchase Relativity Media also acquired the rights to solar-flare-killed-all-of-mankind-except-treasure-hunters comic AFTERBURN, which is a co-production between (Toby) Maguire Entertainment and Original Films.
- Anchor Bay picks up the distribution for NOT FORGOTTEN, a “troubled past comes back to haunt” sounding flick starring Simon Baker and Paz Vega.
- Joss Whedon says that Jena Malone and Bill Nighy are not in CABIN IN THE WOODS, despite the internet wanting to believe otherwise.
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins Hillary Swank in THE RESIDENT for Hammer Films.
- How does, “The screenplay is more akin to RE2 in terms of style, but with better dialogue. The overall tone is also very dark,” qualify as Exclusive RESIDENT EVIL 4 info? Get a job, internet.
Remakes
- Platinum Dunes trophy boy Brad Fuller says that NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is next for the outfit and that THE BIRDS is contingent on whenever Martin Campbell wants to make it.
- According to Bloody-Disgusting Fox is working on a PREDATOR reboot to be produced by Robert Rodriguez’s Trouble Maker Studios. While I’m sure they’d love to cash that check again, I find Rodriguez’s involvement highly suspect.
- THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK the TV show?

- Michael Shannon to headline the Herzog directed, Lynch produced MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE.
- Midnight movies for this year’s SXSW: A FILM WITH ME IN IT, THE CEREMONY, GRACE, LAKE MUNGO, TRAILERS FROM HELL.COM WITH JOE DANTE, ZIFT.
- SLAUGHTER HIGH uncut DVD set for April 14th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
- Spontaneous Human Bursting in…wait for it…BURST! Haven’t I written about this before?
- In talking about STRANGELAND 2, Dee Snider reveals his (unshared) belief that the first STRANGELAND inspired the torture porn craze.
- ZOMBIE HONEYMOON 2 to be produced by John Landis.
- Speaking of, Landis is suing Michael Jackson for unpaid THRILLER royalties.
- Unlike those idiots who say not to, I do judge a book by a cover, which is why I’ll be reading DEATHTROOPERS.

Just thought ppl might be interested in midnight screening premiere of Friday 13th happening for the Glasgow Film Festival. Beginning at 11.59 on 12th Feb at cineworld, they should see in friday with the movie…
Proving that you just can’t keep a good bad guy down, machete-wielding maniac Jason returns in a back to basics remake of the grisly slice’n’dice shocker that first set audiences screaming almost thirty years ago. The fear is heightened but the story remains the same as a group of nubile youngsters head to Camp Crystal Lake, an idyllic spot that the maniac likes to think of as home although fresh blood is always welcome to pay a visit. Marcus (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) Nispel directs.
