I wouldn't say I'm a fanboy, but I do pretty much own every game (sans the Gameboy Color game). You could say I'm more of a sucker.

But with the overall 'plot' of Resident Evil, there is some sort of sheer retarded brilliance to it.

I wouldn't say I've ever given a shit about the series, but I certainly have very fond nostalgia for at least the first two games. After that, it all sort of dropped off my radar.

I did play RE4 for the PS2 and thought it was great, though.

Neither would I, as it seems that most things either end up or start on the DS or PSP these days. It would be interesting to see them work out the mechanics with the stylus, though!

Yes, I never played it on the GameCube, or the PS2 or the PC. I WATCHED all my friends play it, but I just loathed the GameCube's controller. And with the PS2 port, well they just added a LITTLE bit more to the game than the original (as most ports go), and I knew the PC was going to get a port, so I held out for THAT. When I heard there was a Wii port, I said I have to get it now. I doubt there will be yet another port of the game. Although, I would NOT be surprised if a DS port was in the works.

I agree that this game is a must, even with it's departures from the original series. And while it's great on any console, if you have a Wii, I highly recommend going for the Wii version (although not with the gun attachment on your Wiimote--it often obscures the sensor, making targeting a pain, and generally makes for an awkward experience). The button configuration makes for smooth gameplay, and I love the fact that you actually swipe with the Wiimote to use the knife.

All in all, it's a great game that makes good use of the Wii. Though I do have to say, I loved it on Gamecube as well.
