Horror's Not Dead

Horror's Not Dead

"Can't even shout, Can't even cry, the Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, Knocking on doors, They need to take seven and they might take yours. Can't call to mom, Can't say a word, You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard."

Rating System Revamp and MOH Giveaway News.

Two issues of note.  The categories list has gone through a few alterations.  Some things were trimmed, some others re-arranged, but of most relevance is the new rating system.  Gone are the titles of Excellent, Good, Watchable, Bad, and Worthless.  In place is a grading scale A through F whose function I feel needs no elaboration.  The previous 5 categories did not allow for enough of a quality gradient.  As a result I have gone through and re-rated every review written and, I hope you’ll agree, the site is better for it.

Next up, the Masters of Horror Giveaway.  I’m sure a Mr. Barry Dodd would rather I not mention it, but there has been only one entry so far.  The deadline is in 6 days, so if you want a free set of DVDs, give it a shot.  On a note that will sound more emo than intended; if the volume of entries remains so vacuous, this may be the last HND freebie.  I know the readership here is far from massive, but if no one cares to enter I’ll just leave my money in the bank and we’ll go about business as usual.  I can’t even bribe people into loyalty, apparently.

oh, i’m definitely interested in freebies and contests and the like. i’m just not all that psyched about a Masters of Horror box set. i have all the episodes from season 1 that i care for (with the exception of Pick Me Up).

also, the contest itself is a little… too much, you know? i mean, there were a lot of releases last year, and i’d rather not rack my brain trying to figure out what you liked. especially considering our tastes are obviously different.

also, i’ve been busy as hell. i just moved and have been housesitting.

oh, and i was sick. and my grandma died. and my alarm clock didn’t go off. and my dog ate my homework.

You should probably tell us it was signed by all of the directors. That’ll get more entries. Even if you have to forge them. Nobody will notice.

I’d try to do it, but I have trouble judging whether someone really liked it, even if they have a ratings system.

Besides, like Andy said, it’s master of horror, the few I’ve seen it’s just been like “…eh…”

Now, if it was something crazy like old horror movie collections, I’d be all up on that.

I didn’t enter because I want some fortunate newbie to win. Hopefully then they add your feed to their newsreader and make a habit of stopping by.

You don’t need to buy our loyalty. Keeping good, fresh content does that for you. Most of the commenters I see here I’ve seen before. (Hell, a post doesn’t go by without mr. sell hating on one thing or another.)

How did I find this place to begin with? A Cinematical post, I think.

Haven’t been there in ages, come here all the time.

(Aside: Is this comment preview supposed to work at some point?)

Well thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.

As for the comment preview…we should probably just take that out. :P
