Last Week in Horror was all about attachments. Brittany Murphy and Thora Birch join a “psychological thrilller”, which means the press release gave away the ending. Remember Zack Snyder’s epic zombie project, the one promising to be the largest undead film of all time, ARMY OF THE DEAD? Well, it now has a director.
And now I’m going to start a tradition. Whatever YouTube entertained me most over the past week. Victory this week goes to the wizards of Asia.

- Happy Madison, Adam Sandler’s outfit, has formed Scary Madison, which is a new production label for exactly what you don’t want it to be; bottom of the barrel Sandler audienceized horror.
- The first sentence of this Hollywood Report article on DEADLINE use the words “psychological thriller.” I’m calling it right now; Brittany Murphy’s character will end up being Thora Birch (or vice versa).
- Best movie ever? ROUNDTABLE is about a Merlin led team of knights who battle an ancient evil. Oh, and it takes place in modern times, with a run down bunch in the role of the knights.
- Lionsgate shifts MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN around again, this time to August 1st.
- 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DUST TO DUST, a webseries for FEARnet, casts Shawnee Smith, Ken Foree and Ted Raimi.
- WB signs a director for the Zack Snyder sponsored project ARMY OF THE DEAD; Matthijs van Heijningen, director of car commercials (just like Snyder was pre-DOTD04).

I smell a contest: Guess the plot of the new Brittany Murphy-Thora Birch psychological thriller!
i make the following predictions about the SPIT remake (SPOILER alert for anybody who hasn’t already seen the original):
1. there will be no gang rape. in fact, there will be only ONE rape scene, and it will be off-camera or implied or whatever.
2. the guy who is ordered to kill her after the rape, but doesnt? he will now be a sensitive, teen heart-throb-looking type (instead of mildly developmentally-disabled). and she will not kill him. hell, maybe he’ll even help her get her revenge or whatever. but he’ll still be alive at the end.
3. the line “suck it, bitch” will still be in there, in both contexts. but it will not be nearly as awesome when she says it at the end.
4. there will be more focus on where the dudes come from…. their family life (at least one will have an abusive dad, another will have been raised by a single mom, etc.) and that type of shit.
5. the dick-amputation scene will not be there. ditto for the motorboat kill.
6. she will have some kind of boyfriend at the beginning, who she’s breaking up with or putting it on hold with or something.
…
ALSO, Scary Madison?
excuse me, i think i see a brick wall over there that i need to repeatedly bang my forehead against.
later.
7) All of the killers will be in trailer parks.
