Last Week in Horror, August 3rd to the 10th

Last Week in Horror was rather slender in the news department.  MTV hosts a trailer for THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLET, which hits theaters this Halloween, sure to fall away soon after.  Warner Brothers does some further flip flopping on Michael Dougherty’s debut film, one I’ve been wanting to see for a while now.

Some SUSPIRIA remake news, though much of the film’s details are still amorphous.  And Ed Sanchez’s China set film (I think?) finally gets some moving images….well, images that move retardly fast, but after ALTERED I’m game for whatever the guy wants to do.

Studio News and Attachments

• Though no release date is in sight, as far as I’ve read, it looks like Warner Brothers has once again picked up TRICK ‘R TREAT.  Who knows where it goes from here.
• Paramount is looking to replace their pathetic first attempt at a FRIDAY THE 13TH box set to shame.  I’d count on this new set coming out just prior to the remake next Feb.

Remakes

• Natalie Portman is set to star in a 2010 remake of SUSPIRIA.  Since it was inevitable anyway, this works for me, actually.

• Remember that guy you had never heard of who was directing the third BUTTERFLY EFFECT flick?  Replace his name with another one you’ve never heard of.
