Last Week in Horror: 4/4 - 4/11

Last Week in Horror gamers the world over could breathe a sigh of relief, Gore Verbinski is directing BIOSHOCK from a John Logan script. Had you polled me a week ago on who I would want to tackle the 360 genre bender, I’d of come up empty handed, but this has all the airs of a great marriage of style to material. Also, if - and I know you were - you had been wondering what Tom Atkins was up to these days, now you will know.

And knowing is half the hassle.

Oh, and what would a news re-cap post be without Uwe Boll? Stride Gum, marketers that they be, have created an impossible to meet offer; if the Anti-Boll petition receives 1,000,000 signatures by May 14th, everyone who signs gets a free pack of gum. Not happening, of course, but way to get your name out there, Stride!

personally, i’d rather see Atkins in SASQUATCH ASSAULT.

i’m kind of nervous about this whole MY BLOODY VALENTINE nonsense. first off, it’s a remake. which automatically puts it in the “oh shit, really?” category.

secondly, look at the guy directing. sure, he edited a few decent things here and there. but most of the shit he’s been involved with at all (and EVERYTHING he’s directed) has been awful fucking garbage.

however, todd farmer co-wrote it. so, at least it’ll have a good-natured sense of humor.

then again, look at the rest of the cast besides Atkins. nobody i give a shit about (except maybe that dude who was in FINAL DESTINATION). i mean, part of me wants to be thankful they’re not going to the high school/college kid route, but i’m just not sure…

also, what the fuck kind of a name is Breathnatch?

    I mean, jesus.

Ya know, I had a hard time actually typing out the name Paddy Breathnatch. I had to check at least four times to see if I was spelling it right. Maybe I should kick off a study to see if director’s with awkward last names make awkward movies.
