Last Week in Horror: 2/24 – 3/2

Last week the house that Freddy Krueger built fell to the business wayside.  Ellen Page must have received a talking to from Halle Berry and Hilary Swank and subsequently broke Sam Raimi’s heart.  Stephen King started making a musical.  A Christian themed horror screenplay was a disaster on eBay.  A very nice looking Swede vampire film got a US chaperon.  One of the best horror films of ’07 got a speedy retail date.  And, of course, the trailer for STARSHIP TROOPERS 3 is live at 6, All Net, All Channels.

• New Line Cinema is dead!  Folded into Warner Bros!
• ThinkFilm will release Stuart Gordon’s STUCK on May 30th.
• Ellen Page drops out of Raimi’s DRAG ME TO HELL – BD cites a bad script, official’s cite a schedule conflict.  — I’m citing Ellen Page not wanting to be another actress who followed up her Oscar nominated performance with a genre film.
• Darren Lynn Bousman will direct an ep of "FEAR ITSELF".
• Thank God the writer’s strike ended, how else would we have gotten JEEPERS CREEPERS 3: THE CREEPER WALKS AMONG US?
• Magnet Releasing picks up the very cool looking Swedish vampire film LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.

Remakes

• MY BLOODY VALENTINE will just not suffer the artistic handicap of being viewed in two measly dimensions.
• Back to scrapping the barrel; NIGHT OF THE DEMONS up on the block.

• Stephen King is co-creating a musical called GHOST BROTHERS AND DARKLAND COUNTY with John Cougar Mellencamp.
• Bunnies do GRINDHOUSE in 60 seconds.
• Lots of people want to do a sequel to THE DESCENT, and they even have a plot, but none of those people had anything to do with the first film; good thing if you ask me.
• Remember the Christian screenplay auctioned on eBay?  Sold for $28.16.
• THE ORPHANAGE  will be available  on DVD and Blu-Ray April 22nd.
• WORST CASE SCENARIO is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
