Horror's Not Dead

"The end is near. I hear a noise at the door, as of some immense slippery body lumbering against it. It shall not find me. God, that hand! The window! The window!"

Hey, Remember When …

… “THE SIMPSONS” Tree House of Horrors episodes were good?  Because this year’s was lame.  I know “THE SIMPSONS” hasn’t been close to even B- game in a while, but one could at least count on the Halloween episode to provide a nice Springfield filter on classic genre tales.

Year 19 though?  Ouch.  Flaccid TRANSFORMERS riff?  Pointless hat tip to “MAD MEN”?  It’s the frakin’ one day of the year all celebrate the genre, why play off giant robots and - as much as I love the show - advertising executives from the ’60s?  The Grand Pumpkin was cool, but that’s about it.

Or am I really just becoming an incredibly grumpy old man far too fast in life?

I hear ya man, I haven’t been an avid Simpsons watcher in about 7 or 8 years, but I *ALWAYS* caught the Halloween specials. I was disappointed by this years episode as well.

the treehouses have been terrible for years now.

i actually liked this year’s better than some of the more recent ones.

but yeah… Mad Men (even though the actual segment there had some decent laughs)? Transformers? WTF.

time to go back to HORROR stories and riffs on TZ episodes. seriously.

Gregory Jacobs has served as first AD on most of Soderbergh’s films, not to mention executive producer. Thus, the thrown bone.
