Horror's Not Dead

Horror's Not Dead

"Can't even shout, Can't even cry, the Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, Knocking on doors, They need to take seven and they might take yours. Can't call to mom, Can't say a word, You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard."
-- Hush, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

And the winner is… (plus a surprise twist!)

Brian Knowles!  And for anyone who wants to know how the "drawing" took place: After eliminating the numerous emails that were either late or did not include any actual address, I totaled up the eligible, went to random.org and generated a random sequence of that same interval.  Then I went and generated a random integer within that sequence.

Fate pulled an 8 for the integer, 8 happened to be the first number in the sequence and the first email in my inbox was from Brian.  So that was how the wizardry went down.

In case you missed what was up for grabs (which I doubt, since I’ve barely updated the site since), it was the new DVD from Christopher Alan Broadstone, featuring his 3 short films, as well as his chaotic first novel.  As for the surprise twist, 3 Dead Girls! and Puzzleman will both be signed by writer/director Broadstone!  His signature isn’t going to fetch anything on eBay, but it’ll be cool to have if he ever breaks through the cacophony of popular horror.

Broadstone definitely has talent so I don’t doubt that possibility.  Hell, all 3 of his shorts show more artistic merit than the truly shitty STV flick playing on the hotel TV as I type this.  Lance Henriksen, why can I not resist watching anything you’re in, even when the masterpiece (In The Spider’s Web) fails to make an appearance at the IMDB?!?

Oh, and I do promise to actually make good on this delivery.  Unlike the last contest .  I think at this point were I to send the bulky VHS copy of Piranha Part Two: The Spawning to someone, they’ll not even remember entering and will spend hours on end wondering what the hell it means.

Maybe I should send that out after all…

Thank you so much. It is a real honor to win over the people with no addresses! Homeless people have no right entering contests anyways. They don’t even pay taxes! (I may be intoxicated)

Seriously though, this is cool. I can’t wait to check this shit out.

    I’m awesome.

    Oh yeah, the VHS contest.

Sorry Brian, I hope you didn’t get your hopes up about actually receiving this prize.

Next contest you run should be just for the people you know in real life.

The winner just gets to ransack your home and pilfer whatever DVDs you own.

    No shipping that way!

Sure, but I’ll limit it only to the shelf only containing Street Fighter, Nothing But Trouble and Mortal Kombat…

what do you have against NOTHING BUT TROUBLE?

That movie is not nearly as special as I remembered it as a kid.

And to twist the knife even farther, I grabbed it out of a bargain bin, but because a refund hadn’t been processed yet it actually put me over my limit and I got charged an overdraft fee. So in all that fucking impulse buy cost me like 50 bucks.
