I point you towards this trailer for Adrift, another people stuck in the ocean movie, not because it’s all that great of a trailer, but because the concept is so damned simple that it is genuinely terrifying to me.
Open Water had some cleverness to it, but really it was an exercise in tedium, because all they did was float. But what if you’re right next to your boat? What if you’re inches away from safety, but your lives still hang in the balance because no one remembered to put the ladder down before everyone jumped into the ocean?
Just thinking about the futility of it all, of constantly trying - and failing - to get back on the boat which is floating right fucking next to you…it tightens my chest already. Can the movie capture that terror? No clue, but the concept alone wins my vote.
Adrift trailer: Hi - Medium - Low
In UK theaters September 1st.

I like it. The baby on board is a nice touch.
If it can compete with Open Water I’m all for the ride…
