Spike Lee Enters the Genre

Spike Lee Enters the Genre

Well, I guess technically he entered the genre in ‘99 with Summer of Sam, so it’s more like re-enters the genre, but this time he has a more supernatural bend.

The flick, which Spike Lee is going to write and hopefully direct, is called Selling Time.  He’s not the first man on the project, but he is the newest.  It’s about a man who sells years of his life in exchange for the ability to ‘relive and change the worst day of his life’.  The concept is pretty interesting, even if it sounds more like an episode of "Tales From the Crypt" than a feature film.

I think Spike Lee is one hell of a filmmaker, with several of his films landing in my top 100 list, were I to actually make one.  But I’m a far simpler man, so instead Do The Right Thing rounds out my top 3 films.  So seeing what he does with a supernatural story is a prospect I likes.
