Horror's Not Dead

"The Living Dead and the dying living are all the same. Cut from the same cloth. But disposing of dead people is a public service, whereas you're in all sorts of trouble if you kill someone while they're still alive. "

Rob Zombie Officially Directing Next Halloween

Rob Zombie Officially Directing Next Halloween

Bloody Disgusting got an exclusive on the official press release, so I won’t repost it here, but Dimension Films has confirmed the rumors Fangoria broke days ago: Rob Zombie will be writing, directing, and producing a new Halloween for an Oct. 2007 release.

It won’t be a straight sequel, but rather, "an entirely new take on the legend and will satisfy fans of the classic "Halloween" legacy while beginning a new chapter in the Michael Myers saga."

I think Rob is a great choice to revitalize the icon.  He is certainly an auteur and is definitely deeply in tune with the genre, so I’m excited to seeing anything he comes up with.  Here’s to hoping it’s not just some hectic grindhouse stuff like House or Devil’s Rejects, which worked for those two films, but rather a refrained piece of sheer slasher goodness.

I don’t know. I dislike both “House of 1000 Corpses” - though i thought the sets were great - and “The Devil’s Rejects”. Curious to a certain degree. Zombie should indeed refrain, but also inject it with some real brutality and intensity. There was not a moment in his previous films that made impact, eventhough some scenes should have, considering the situation.
