[...] HorrorsNotDead.com is a one-man blog that’s run by one of Cinematical’s regular readers/commenters, Peter Hall (which is how I came across his bloggo in the first place). Full of wonderfully opinionated reviews, helpful DVD buying guides, and tons of random news updates, HND is a best-scenario example of what happens when one articulate horror geek decides to kick-start his own blog. And best of all, Pete’s no fawning fanboy who blindly adores every piece of gore he sees. That kind of stuff gets real old real fast, and he avoids it with an impressive consistency. Check out Hall’s recent reviews of Evil Aliens (Brit indie), Hollow Man 2 (DTV sequel), Monster House (big-budget cartoon) and Strange Sunset (grass-roots mega-indie) to get a taste of the guy’s admirably eclectic perspectives.
1. The Hills Have Eyes is intense as all hell. Go tell the dozens of people I saw leaving the theater opening night that it wasn't scary.

2. Monster House is a kids movie, thus is scary for a kids movie. If you expected to shit your pants, we'll you're just silly, Mr. Fitz!

3. I can imagine, but I've never seen a feature length movie in IMAX 3D.

1) hills have eyes = not scary. 2) monster house, also not that scary. 3) IMAX 3-d > digital 3-d. 4) that kid breaking down in tears was hillarious. so yah, maybe it was a little scary

Convinced me!
Ordered my ticketsfor the 3D. Loren and I going to see it saturday night. My first impression was that it wasnt going to be that scary...
hoping youre right because I cant ever get Loren to watch a
scary movie... unless she gets tricked into it. Like when we got her
to see The Hills Have Eyes. Mwahhhaha lol

i caught Superman Returns (The IMAX Experiance!) in san fran the other week. The technology was pretty impressive, leaps and bounds better then the old grainy imax 3d i remember from feild trips past. they also showed a trailer for "ant bully" which was promoted as fully 3d (as opposed to supermans 20 min or so). Now i have no intentions of seeing that movie, but the 3d combined with a fully animated feature almost swayed me. Almost, now im just gonna go see monster house this weekend instead. THANKS P!TER

You should get your ass to the Cinema De Lux in Fairfax and see Monster House in 3D!

But yeah, Supes in IMAX 3D would be badass. Too bad the Air & Space annex is only playing it in regular dimensions and I'm far too lazy to go to the one in DC.

I caught Superman Returns in 3D at the IMAX in the Tropicana while I was in Atlantic City. It was bad ass! I wasn't expecting the 3D technology to be as good as it was. They also had some other movie playing that was basically a National Geographic special on sea life. Right up you're ally Peter. I know how you like the mysteries and terrors of the deep.
