Only the creatures probably didn’t act scary because of what they originally were. And from what I remember the explaination of the film travelled along the lines of voodoo. It took me a few watches to completely see the story. I admit it’s not so much scary as it is interesting. And I don’t know who Patrick Fugit is. . . moving on to your unoriginal attempts of scares. yes it’s mostly let’s jump out of the closet or move around the house and investigate scooby doo fashion but most horror movies now a days delve into that. I recently saw a movie called Husk and many things about reminded me of Dead Birds only in a more modernish fashion. you might prefer that movie more for the plot and reasoning is much more obvious.
